Description:

ISO/IEC 10036:1996 "Font information interchange -- Procedures for registration of font-related identifiers"

Information: This International Standard specifies the procedures to be followed by the Registration Authority in preparing, maintaining, and publishing registers of identifiers which identify font-related objects. The purpose of these registers is to provide a common reference source to be used in the creation and interchange of font resources. The registration process aims to be comprehensive, to assign unique and unambiguous identifiers, and to avoid changes in identifiers over time.

More information regarding the use of the (temporarily) withdrawn {iso(1) registration-authority(1)} arc (received from Yushi Komachi). When republishing the Rec. ITU-T X.660 | ISO/IEC 9834 series, ITU-T SG 17 decided at its September 2003 Plenary meeting to reinstate the arc since it was used in International Standards.

The decision to appoint the Registration Authority is recorded in document ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC6 N 12002.
